Review: E-book by Tina McAllister, Becoming a WAHM Real Estate Agent

While I have no intentions of changing careers right now, if I needed or wanted to this ebook series by Tina McAllister would be a great start. I learned a lot and garnered ideas for my own business while reading through the series. Anyone considering a career in real estate should definitely start with her books.  I have read all three books in the series and will review one at a time this week to share a glimpse with WAHM’s and WAHM want-to-be’s into these comprehensive and informative e-books.

The first book in the three part series (which can be read at once or can stand alone if you need to focus on one particular subject matter) is a how to guide for those contemplating a career in real estate.  Tina does an excellent job of breaking down the projected expenses and income, including issues like 100% commission versus other broker agreements, pros and cons of being self-employed and breaking down your expenses and commission to determine how much money you netted in a real estate transaction.  She also covers the pros and cons of choosing real estate as a WAHM option.  Tina highlights the flexibility of the job but isn’t shy about discussing the potential difficulties due to the last minute desire of buyers to view a home and the need to be available in the evenings and on weekends.

Tina also spent time introducing ways to involve your children in your business.  This is a benefit of owning your own business that is often forgotten.  But the ability to surf the net for listings while nursing a infant or enlisting the help of your elementary age child to copy fliers, etc. is an important perk of being a WAHM.

This book also deals with the nitty gritty issues related to becoming an agent, talks about the difference between a realtor and a real estate agent and gives several real life examples of situations that may arise during the course of a real estate career.

All three of TIna’s ebooks are very reader friendly.  I especially liked that the state information and websites for licensing and fees is included, which saves readers the time of researching such information on their own.  It was relieving to discover that some states require background checks before someone can obtain a real estate license- good idea!

The book is well organized (which of course is important to me, The Organizer :-).  In fact, pages 33-36 provide worksheets to assist the wanna be agent in formulating concrete goals for their new endeavor.  Any of you familiar with this site know that a plan is necessary for any new task to be successful.  And, those pages are a fabulous start in creating a business plan to assist you on your way to real estate success.

So, if any of you are searching for your design- your purpose, passion and drive- or are already in the real estate business and want to learn to take your business to the next level, this is the series for you.

To view or purchase this e-book visit Tina’s site at www.wahmbiztips.com.  Stay tuned Tuesday for a review of book two- Working your WAHM Real Estate Business.  And, be sure to mention to Tina that you learned of her book here, at Organized LIfe by Design.
